By Pavlov E-Lab. An installation at the red lights district in Groningen for Noorderzon Performing Arts festival, 19-29 August 2010.
A time-lapse of sleeping beauty and her dreams and aspirations. Concept & Directing by Nathalie Beekman. Production by Carla Wolbers. Roelof Bos did the time-lapse photography. DoP and editor Alex Pitstra also reluctantly played the part of prince in one shot. Check out the credits at the end for more names.
My task for the video element:
I wasn’t present at the shoot, but I did help a bit putting up the installation. The intention was to have people just lie there for an hour for each time-lapsed segment. That proved to be a bit much. I think they settled for half hour segments with plenty time to recuperate in between.
It was weird setting things up in the red lights district — joke al you want in the comments. The projection was on the window of one of the workrooms. Of course it wasn’t used as such during the installation. Let me tell you, these rooms are pretty soundproof. For the sound of the piece – by Renger Koning – the speakers had to be placed right up against the ventilation of the room, which was right above the window, and set really really loud.
