Gasunie Waterstof Services:

Hydrogen Exchange for Industrial Application
Gasunie, a European natural gas infrastructure company, has converted a natural gas transport pipeline in the province of Zeeland for transporting hydrogen.
Hydrogen released as a byproduct at plastics and chemicals producer Dow Benelux is now being used as raw material by fertiliser producer Yara 12 kilometres away.
Therefore Yara needs less natural gas.
This not only leads to a decline in energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Transportation by pipeline is also safe, reliable and efficient.
There are actually more producers and potential consumers of hydrogen in Zeeland.
Gasunie Waterstof Services would therefore like to expand its hydrogen network and connect more suppliers and users.
This will lead to even more CO2 and energy savings, but also to significantly less hydrogen transported by road.
Gasunie’s ultimate aim is to connect the industrial areas of Zeeland, the Maasvlakte, North Holland, Limburg and Groningen.
In doing so we work towards a future that is less dependent on natural gas, while giving natural gas transport pipelines a second life with hydrogen transport.
